Cosmetic clinics in Australia are prohibited by law to advertise:

- the brand names of any medicines that may be used in a treatment

- the pricing of any medicines that may be used in a treatment

- explicit treatments, areas of concern or techniques that may be used

- before and after images that utilise medicines in the treatment

This also includes not being allowed to advertise the brand used for bio-restructuring.

One of the key signs of facial ageing is thinning of the subcutaneous tissue of the face. This is the thin layer of fat that helps support the face and helps give our face a plumper and more youthful appearance. When we lose it, the sides of the face in particular can look hollower, less firm and sag starts to creep in.

Bio-restructuring is designed to help regenerate the superficial fat layer of the side of the face. As an analogy, this important layer of fat that is regenerated acts like the underlay beneath a carpet. It performs two key mechanical roles:

- it helps cushion the skin from external forces and makes the skin feel pumper and firmer

- it also helps hold the skin in place so that the area doesn't look hollow or feel lax and saggy

THE SCIENCE OF BIO-RESTUCTURING

Bio-restructuring has some key differences when compared to other previous volumising treatments:

1) Instead traditional volumising, this new approach instead stimulates the superficial fat to regenerate. Bio-restructuring signals to your tissues to regenerate and the product does not stay in your face longer term. Instead it is converted into water over a few months and is completely removed from your body.

2) Bio-restructuring treatments are designed to be used in two very specific areas of the face:

- under the cheek bone

- in the patch of skin in front of the ears.

It is placed in these specific regions to help re-stimulate fat that has atrophied over time due to genetic and environmental factors. As aging thins this fat layer, this results in the overlying skin to slowly shift downwards and forwards with gravity, leading to hollowing, sagging and jowling. Bio-restructuring provides a lipolifting effect by restoring the adipose tissue layer, leading to firmer skin and better support for the facial tissues.

Skin & volume indications

Bio-restructuring treatments are performed as a standard protocol to treat both sides of the face. Unlike with facial volumising, you won't see contouring, definition or any exaggerated changes with this type of treatment.

Safety

There are zero reports of vascular occlusions or blindness when using bio-restructuring.

Expected longevity

Depending on your baseline hollowing/sagging, outcomes are expected for 6-12 months and compound with longer-term use.

DOWNTIME & AFTERCARE AFTER BIO-RESTRUCTURING

For the first 24-48 hours after a treatment you may see or feel some swelling of the areas. (The swelling can make the sides of the face looks rounder and this is temporary)

Bruising is part and parcel of any non-surgical intervention and so this can in a minority of cases occur. Some people heal very quickly from bruises but others who are fairer skinned, those with more mature or thinner skin can take 1-2 weeks to heal from a simple bruise.

The same aftercare for all filler treatments applies for bio-restructuring treatments. The most important thing to avoid is no makeup, skin products, fake tan, bronzers, sun cream or similar for 12 hours afterwards. (Therefore you can apply these the day after your treatment)
You don't need to massage the area treated - the mild swelling will disperse itself over 24-48 hours
It's best to avoid the gym for 24-48 hours until the swelling has settled as this will reduce the risk of excessive swelling and any late onset bruising.
