Cosmetic clinics in Australia are prohibited by law to advertise:

- the brand names of any medicines that may be used in a treatment

- the pricing of any medicines that may be used in a treatment

- explicit treatments, areas of concern or techniques that may be used

- before and after images that utilise medicines in the treatment

This also includes not being allowed to advertise the brand used for bio-stimulation.

Common patient concerns that are suitable for bio-stimulation include:

- laxity and sagging of the skin of the face or neck

- a gaunt or very thin-looking face (a lack of fat to the face)

Multiple indications

Bio-stimulation is performed in the lateral face +/- the temples. It is also a useful tool for laxity of the skin of the neck.

Slow and steady results

The results will show only after 3-4 months. This slow burn is excellent for patients wanting subtle and slow changes.

Expected longevity

Bio-stimulation has been clinically shown to last for 2-5 years.

DOWNTIME & AFTERCARE AFTER BIO-STIMULATION

Every patient who has bio-stimulation will experience a degree of swelling, tenderness +/- bruising immediately after. One to two weeks of mild down time will always occur after these treatments and this is a normal soft tissue response to the needles used and the product added.

This downtime period should be factored into your diary, work arrangements and social life before you commit to a treatment. The vast majority of patients can go about their usual daily activities the next day. New patients are however reminded that these treatments are medical procedures and not simple beauty treatments.

You will be shown how to massage the areas treated and a leaflet to remind you how to do this will be given to you.

Unlike facial volumiser products, bio-stimulators aren't palpable under the skin. The bio-stimulation process takes 3-4 months per session and 2-3 sessions spaced over 12 months are typical.

You can go back to your normal daily activities after a treatment except for a few important instructions:

1) Do not any makeup, bronzer, fake tan, skin. products, serums, sunscreen or similar for at least 12 hours after a treatment. Fillers are injectable implants and it's vital to avoid any risk of infection.

2) Do not massage or rub the areas injected until any tenderness has subsided. This also includes not doing treatments like having a facial, lying down on a table massage or similar. You should let any swelling subside before these. It's also best to avoid any significant heat including laser/radio-frequency treatments, saunas, hot yoga, etc.

3) It's best to avoid doing any sports, exercise or vigorous activity for 24-48 hours afterwards. This will allow the initial swelling after fillers to start improving and reduce your chances of any delayed bruising (as raising your blood pressure and core temperature significantly increase blood flow to the skin).
